Anastrozole, also known as Arimidex, is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibiting drug (abbreviated as AI) developed by Zeneca Pharmaceuticals in 1995. Initially intended for treating breast cancer post-surgery and metastasis in women, Anastrozole is utilized to hinder estrogen synthesis. Benefits: Effectively prevents the conversion of some anabolic steroids, like testosterone esters and methandienone, into the female hormone estradiol through aromatization. Crucial for male athletes using steroids, as failure to inhibit estradiol production may result in undesirable side effects, with gynecomastia being the most common. Mitigates the development of female breast tissue in men, along with reducing water retention and subcutaneous fat, thereby averting issues such as elevated blood pressure, heart strain, and depression. Helps maintain libido by regulating estradiol levels, preventing adverse effects on sexual function. In comparison to letrozole, another AI, Anastrozole is preferable due to its milder action. Letrozole can cause various side effects, including erectile dysfunction, joint pain, bone fragility, and general unwellness. Anastrozole allows for a smoother adjustment of hormonal balance without completely eliminating all estradiol, as opposed to the drastic effects of letrozole. Dosage Instructions: The recommended initial dose of Anastrozole is 0.5 mg per day or every other day.
